....I thought we all were in agreement that Miata wasn’t the answer.
In that case, unpopular opinion: I don’t like the Miata. At all.
In fact, probably my least favorite roadster. I even like my brother’s MR2 Roadster better.

I don’t even fit. Yeah, I’m tall, but there are few cars I don’t fit in the front seat of.

Why? It’s cheap, light, and RWD.

I agree. I had a 350z convertible before I bought my BMW and I was cramped in it. I couldn’t imagine trying to sit comfortably in a Miata.

But do you fit in the backseat?

Have you seen the backseat of a sports coupe? The answer to whether I fit is no.

I never got it, but we’ll see what happens when I fix the beater. Maybe she can change my mind.

I think it makes sense that you like the MR2 better. The MR2 is better. Mid-engined is awesome and interesting and snappy.
The reason they died and the Miata didn’t is probably more down to useability. The Spyder in particular had very little storage space, this in an era where sports cars where dying and people didn’t want to keep one as a weekend-only car.

All in agreement?
First day on the I internet see.
I kid I kid...most likely...sort of

Fiat 124 is the answer, even though I don’t think it will depreciate like other modern Fiats.

I was more poking at how you specified the front seat.

Have you sat in one with a foamectomy? Even one without one had more front seat space than my 4Runner.

Try my 71' 240Z haha, I’m 5'9" and my head is close to the roof.

Uhh no, miata is the best. THE BEST!
Track day bro?

You say thay, but there is no reason for them not to plummet in value. Fortunately, a used one will be wonderfully cheap.

I think there will be enough people in the market for a Miata to keep 124 prices high

Time will tell. Not that either version of the market for them will be better than the other.

Ouch. I’m 6'1" so I wouldn’t stand a chance.

Yay for MR2! (Though I don’t think that was your point)

The Miata is a great car to drive, and it’s cheap, but I wouldn’t buy one. Why? Because it has no soul, and a small roadster that connects you to the road, and provides an experience, should have a soul, and the Miata just doesn’t. I appreciate the Miata for showing other companies that sports cars aren’t dead though, and that driving is more than just transportation. Want a small Japanese roadster with a soul?
Bam. Datsun.
